SINGAPORE, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.05 percent, or 1.39 points, to close at 2,539.94.
A total of 1.66 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.02 billion Singapore dollars (about 749.12 million U.S. dollars). Gainers equaled losers by 224 to 224.
The STI index went up 0.24 percent, or 6.04 points, to close at 2,538.55 on Tuesday.
